LOUISVILLE COUNTRY DANCE
BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
MINUTES 7/13/2003
Persons Present:  Kathy Goss, Barb Coles, Norm Stewart, Dwayne Johnson, Jack Still, Larry Oaks, & Ken Shepherd.
Insurance:  Barb reported that she believes we can get 6 months coverage (July1 till Dec. 1) for $255. It met with board approval.
Belle Registration:  93 people are now registered for 2003.
CD:  Our CD matures this month. With interest so low it was decided to cash it in and put $300 in the checking account to help with
current bills, and place the rest in regular savings in case we need it to cover expenses for the Belle weekend.
KY Music Weekend:  This important local event is coming up on July 25 & 26. In the past we have done demonstration dances at this
weekend and picked up several new dancers. We are invited to once again participate and may even get TV coverage on the Friday
night. Susan Moffet has agreed to call on Friday (and on Saturday if we cannot get someone else). Carrie and Jim McGee could probably
be prevailed upon for music with other musicians who will probably be there anyway. We will try to have some flyers available with 2 for
1 coupons in them to explain contra dance and encourage people to try it.
Raffle:  A suggestion was made that we could try a cash prize raffle with half the sales being given as a prize. This suggestion was tabled
for the moment as we have several other things going but it was felt to be a good suggestion.
New Dancer Flyers:  Norm showed us a flyer used by another group to give to new dancers when they show up. We will print some for
Monday nights for our group. Flyers will include a complementary pass.
Regional Dance Guides:  Norm also showed us a dance guide he had gotten from another part of the country. It included info on several
different groups with times, days of week or month, directions, costs of admission, etc. Larry Oaks offered to pay for the printing of some
of these for our region when we get it together.
Donations To LCD: A motion was made and passed that any gifts to LCD need to go through the board for approval and disbursement.
Any equipment usage or sponsorship should be voted on by the board in the future. (A recent gift made to LCD did not meet this criteria
and an effort will be made by Kathy Goss to see that this is corrected.)
Yard Sale:  It was decided that anything left over from our yard sale next month should be donated to charity (ex.: Goodwill Industries.)
Next Meeting: August 10 at the Louisville Nature Center (many thanks to Jack who lets us use this facility!!)
